I am learning…
This week I was finding my rythm here at the center and growing in community!
Here are a few things I am learning…
*The relationships I grow with people matter the most
* Learning how to live in the present moment is challenging but liberating
* Little works of love matter
* Gratitude helps combat discouragement and despair
* The Lord speaks in the little things
* Staying closely connected to friends and family back home is a non negotiable for the heart
* Living in a country with so little forces you to see clearly just how much in abundance you have
* Being stripped of the little comforts teaches you how to sit in the uncomfy
* Letting go of expectations is neccesary to move forward
* You can live a simple life and still make an impact
* Kids are the kindest teachers
* A smile is the beginning of love
* It’s okay if choosing to love feels difficult sometimes… push through it
* Remembering your why behind learning a language is the greatest motivator
* Surrendering to the Lord must be renewed every day and even throughout the day
Something I miss doing in the bible study I was a part of at Belmont are high, low, God moments for the week! So here are mine for this week…
Highs >> jumping in the pool with everyone on hot days, dancing with Sarita at night, listening to music while we do our nightly chores, going to town to see the Catholic procession for Good Friday, playing soccer with Erik, holding the little boys at the nutrition center, my morning routine of movement and prayer time, walking to get icecream with the teenagers, seeing a pretty view of Gualan, & working one on one with a patient
Lows >> feeling discouraged in my spanish learning, feeling tired of misunderstanding others and being misunderstood, missing friends & family a little extra during the Easter holiday, the heat haha
God Moments >> the book Trust and Love that I am reading speaking to my heart, getting to see the procession in town, His strength to help my surrender daily, Spanish worship music
“It is not to do extraordinary things, but for love to do the little things that form the fabric of our lives, to please God, to make our neighbors, family, and friends happy. Therese called this ‘scattering flowers’” ~ Father Jacques Philippe
