Fall In Love Again & Again
Hola desde Buenos Aires!
This past week I fell in love with Argentina all over again because I had the opportunity to take a trip to Buenos Aires for the first time! It was a holiday here in Argentina, which meant a long weekend with a few days off from work, so I decided to take advantage of the time off by taking a quick trip with a friend from work. It turned into a much needed refresh to see a new place through fresh eyes & remember my favorite parts of this country and its culture.
The purpose of this trip was honestly multifaceted: we took the trip because it was a holiday weekend, we took the trip because I knew I wanted to visit and tour around Buenos Aires while I’m still living here, and we took the trip because we were able to get tickets to see Bad Bunny in concert. As an artist, Bad Bunny has been a hot topic in headlines recently in the US because of his Super Bowl performance, but he is also in the middle of a stadium world tour. As someone from the US currently living in a Latin American country, his performance was both meaningful and moving for me. It was an incredible tribute to the culture in which he comes from and represents, but it was also a beautiful representation of the strength in unity and the power of love over hate. So needless to say, after his powerful performance a few weeks ago, being able to see him live in concert this past week was equally as exciting and meaningful.

The rest of the weekend was spent touring around the city and enjoying its beautiful culture and diverse scenery. We went to some of the classic attractions like Obelisco (a famous monument in the middle of the city), la Floralis Genérica (a famous floral sculpture), Puente de la Mujer (an iconic bridge that symbolizes women’s representation and the importance of tango), Puerto Madero (a well-known port with a beautiful boardwalk), Jardínes Japonés (Japanese Gardens), Planetario (the planetarium), Casa Rosada (the president’s house), Catedral Metropolitana (Buenos Aires Cathedral), Mercado San Telmo (an indoor food market where we ate an incredible choripan – if you know you know), Barrio Chino (China Town), Teatro Colón (a beautiful, historic opera house and theater), Palacio Libertad (the largest cultural center in Latin America – full of so much beautiful art and installations), Caminito La Boca (a beautiful, colorful alley that was the inspiration behind the famous tango music), and more!

With a city so big and full of culture, it was impossible to see everything it has to offer in just four quick days, but we did the best we could to experience Buenos Aires in its entirety. The days I was able to spend there were full of excitement and inspiration that I know I will carry with me through the rest of this experience and the rest of my life. This trip centered me to see the beauty in this culture and the importance behind community, unity, celebration, and love. I am so thankful for this trip and all that it showed me!
With love, Sarah
