Hola! I cannot believe I am leaving Antigua today. These past two weeks have truly flown by! Here is a little glimpse into my past week…

I strolled through ruins of convent. I cannot quite explain it but walking through the ivy covered arches and admiring the artwork was so peaceful for me, it felt like a secret garden in the busy city. I also had the chance to stand on the rooftop of the church I’ve been attending for a panoramic view of the city!

I went to the beach on Saturday with Kristel and my roomie & newest friend Brooke. Since I’ve been living in chilly Chicago the past few months I was ecstatic for the chance to swim in the ocean and lay out in the sun!

I really loved my Spanish classes and for the first time in a while I am truly so excited to learn. I am ending my classes at school desperately wishing I had more time with my teacher. My time at Maximo expanded my vocabulary and reminded me of all the basics but I still have so so much to learn!

On Sunday, the Belmont physical therapy and occupation therapy mission trip team arrived in Antigua for their spring break trip! It was such a blessing to get to see familiar faces and spend the day exploring the city with friends. I feel so grateful for that trip and its leaders because it is truly why I am in Guatemala today. Something that surprised me was how lonely it stared to feel knowing the team and trip that I absolutely love is here serving but I was not fully a part of it. Though in the moments I have spent with the team like getting crepes at night (we even saw a volcano erupt eating our crepes!), going out to dinner together, & going to an Antigua soccer game they have made me feel so loved. In a way Belmont being here has helped me feel ready to leave Antigua, knowing that the Belmont trip is not my why this time it is Hearts in Motion. Though, it was really heavy to say goodbye to the friends and city I love this morning.
