Journey Towards Justice: Reflections of Cape Town, South Africa and Human Trafficking in the 21st Century
I am JoAnna Adkisson and, like my fellow Lumos grantees, I plan to be a world changer. I graduated from Belmont with degrees in Biology and Political Science, minors in Dance and Chemistry. I aim to go to medical school when I return from Cape Town with the hopes of one day returning to Africa to provide relief to victims of social injustices. Thanks to my Air Force pilot Dad and multifaceted-extraordinaire Mom, I have been immersed in cultures and communities unlike my own. At a young age, my five siblings and I were emboldened to serve the world and impact change. That’s exactly what I plan to do. Follow me here, on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
