My name is Eleri Hadaway and I’m from Georgetown, Kentucky. While I was at Belmont, I was involved with a variety of organizations, including Towering Traditions, Belmont Volunteers for Literacy, English Club, and the Office of Service-Learning. Through these extracurriculars and my curriculum in writing, rhetoric, and social work, I uncovered a passion for storytelling as a mode for social change. After graduating with my B.A. in English, I knew I wanted to channel that passion into my next steps.
That’s what led me to Fighting Words, a creative writing charity in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Fighting Words works to empower children, provide free resources for writers of all backgrounds, and teach people about the power of storytelling. During my nine months there, I will be facilitating story workshops in a variety of locations, leading young writers in a Creative Writing Club, and assisting with other storytelling projects as they arise.
Thanks for following along with me as I navigate life in a new country and put my passions into practice! I’m looking forward to sharing snapshots of Belfast!
